Motor Co showcased FOUR new bikes and THREE Autorixas==SEVEN vehicles
one-shot at their Hosur plant on Thursday 30 August 2007. Hence
the name of the lonch event was DHOOM7.
OF THE NEW BIKES FROM TVS, TOP-OF-THE-LINE IS THE UPGRADED APACHE
160 RTR EF-i, WHiCH IS NOW COMiNG WITH PETAL DISC BRAKES FRONT &
REAR, AND Elektronik Fuel injexun. I RACED IT ON TEST-TRAK. DAMN
GuuD. VERRi VERRi RACiST, & Hoo-Haa PiKUP & TOP SPEED! THE RIDER
SEATiNG POSTURE IS TOTALLY RACiST ! ROAD-HOLDiNG IS EXCELLENT. CORNERiNG
IS BRiLLiANT. HANDLiNG IS PURELY RACiST.
THE 159.7 cc ENGiNE of the APACHE 160 RTR EF-i (B x S==62 x 52.9
mm) PRODUCES 11.54 kw at 8500 rpm (==@ 15.5 bhp==15.7 ps) AND DEVELOPs
A TORK
OF 13.1 Nm at 6500 rpm. C.R. is 9.5. TiRES ARE SAME size AS THE
APACHE150, which I believe will soon be tubeless at least on this
new RTR if not already ; 90/90 x 17 FRONT and 100/80 x 18 REAR.
WHEELBASE IS 1300 mm, WHiCH IS 40 mm MORE THAN THE 150, which elongates
its racism by 40 mm, which is what makes this bike a Racist's Dream.
KERB WEiGHT IS 136 kg AND FUEL TANK KAPASiTY IS 16 LiTRES. I DiD
A MAX SPEED OF speed0 indikated 107 kmpH on a Limited length trakk.
Can do more speed but not enuff road. Acceleration & Pikup is brilliant
! Have to wait for full ROAD TEST.
THE SEKOND BiKE LONCHED IS THE 125 cc, THREE VALVE, (two nostrils,
one ass-hole) "FLAME" WiTH MUCH UDDER ADVANCED TEKNOLOJiES. I ALSO
RODE THAT ON THE TRAKK, AND THE FEEL WAS TOP LiNE KLASSiK 125.
FLAME SHARES THE SAME CYLiNDER DiMENSiONS AS THE EARLiER TWO ViCTOR125s,
Viz., ViCTOR EDGE & ViCTOR GLX, WHiCH ARE bore X stroke==54.5 X
53.5 mm==124.8 cc. WHiLE THE MAX POWER OF GLX WAS 7.16 kw (9.73
bhp) @ 7500 rpm, MAX POWER OF EDGE WAS 6.77 kw (9.2 bhp) @ 7000
rpm. As for torque, while the GLX developed 9.5 Nm @ 5500 rpm, EDGE
developed 10 Nm @ 4000 rpm. EDGE had brilliant Low-End-Tork, and
that too at a low-low 4000 rpm, yet EDGE was edged out by GLX==Low
End has to be sakrizified if you want High End. You can't get both.

WiTH THE SAME 124.8 cc MiLL, the FLAME DOES BETTER. MAX POWER IS
7.7 kw (10.33 bhp=10.47 ps). The leaflet giving specs says 10.5
bhp @ 8250 rpm. Rounding off of 10.47 ps to 10.5 is OK, and maybe
even XQZ-able, but mentioning BHP as units when actually it is PS,
is not on. Anyway no great shakes. The sky is not falling down.
Every two-legged, two-wheeler builder and his brudder is writing
bhp when truth is ps, SoundToday, as well as the leader. Ignorance
is bliss. FLAME max Tork is 10 Nm @ 6250 rpm. GLX tork =9.5 Nm at
5500. EDGE tork=10 Nm at 4000.
RiDER FRiENDLY G00DiES ON THE FLAME INCLUDE A DELTAEDGE HEADLAMP,
LCD DiGi-SPEEDO incorporated with fitness check, EMBEDDED DELTAEDGE
TURN-INDiKATORS mounted on fuel tank, DUAL LENS TAiL LiGHT, DELTAEDGE
(Triangular-ish) EXHOST, and not to forget, a THREE-VALVE Engine.
THE THiRD BiKE LONCHED IS StaR CiTY CVTi, NOW WITH A 110 cc ENGiNE
CVTi==Combustion Variable Timing - intelligent] TEKNOLOJi, WiTHOUT
ANY INKRiZ IN PRiCE. THE EARLiER ViCTOR GL110 (which I have) was
BORE x STROKE==51 mm X 53.5 mm==109.3 cc. THE NEW StaR CiTY CVTi
IS 53.5 x 48.8 mm==109.7 cc. [The figure 53.5 mm is the STROKE of
the older GL bike WHiLE 53.5 mm is the BORE of this new StaR CiTY
CVTi, This is either too much of a coincidence or a printing error].
POWER OF THE old ViKTOR GL WAS KLAiMED AT 8.1 @ 7250 rpm (ps or
bhp I dunno. kw was not mentioned in those days bkoz kw was not
yet fashionable at that time many Ears ago), while for this new
StaR CiTY CVTi, IT IS KLAiMED at 6.1 kw @ 7500 rpm==8.18 bhp (I
cal-Q-lated), which is exaktlee ekval to that of the old GL110,
albeit at 250 rpm higher. (Maybe they are not interested in second
decimal place). Visually this new StaR CiTY looks the same as the
earlier one from a distance, but on klozer egzamination you can
perceive minute farqs (==differences). Also, while the Compression
ratio (CR) of the old Victor GL 110 was 9.3, this new StaR CiTY
has CR==10.
I rode this new StaR CiTY on the same trakk at Hosur. Long ago I
had done a 400 km+ 0vernight trip Pune to Konkan coast way back
in Nov. 2001, when the GL110 was brand new. The other guy (bike)
with me was on a RX100. We were both dubble seat. My road test was
published in Indian Auto maybe Nov or Dec 2001. He was riding behind
me. We had started from Pune after dark and rode thru-out the night.
Everyone knows how the RX headlight beam is. I was ripping the GL110
whose headlight beam quality was (still is) brilliant kompaird to
RX100 and most other bikes even today. So he haddoo ride by the
light of my GL110 beam, so he haddoo stay behind me. If he wented
in frunt of me, he would become his own shadow.
The ride quality of this new StaR CiTY is different. It is different
from the old GL110 as well as it is different from the old StaR
CiTY. I am not yet able to put my finger on the difference. Sure,
the top end of this new StaR CiTY is higher. Low End, I could not
make out, but felt different in that short ride. My fault, bkoz
after driving THREE autorixas..and.... FLAME and.. APACHE 160 RTR
EF-i , who has the bull to pay so much attention to this new StaR
CiTY Ekono-bike at this time?? "Tame-nee-aye". (time-nahi-hai).

TVS ALSO SHOWED AN ""Elektrik battery operated bike" BUiLT ON A
SCOOTY-TEENZ. The regular petrol-engine driven Scooty TeenZ you
can see in any TVS dealer horoom. This TVS E-bike is named Scooty
TeenZ Elektrik and looks & dimensions exaktlee same as Petrol enjin
TeenZ.
I DROVE IT on the same trakk. ITS TOP SPEED IS 40 kmpH. IT IS BETTER
THAN THE OTHER E-BYKEs I TESTED. BUT PRiCE NOT KNOWN. Y0-BYKE TOP
MODEL, MADE BY Indus Elec-Trans Ltd. OF AHMEDABAD, IS SELLiNG FOR
Rs.29,000/- ON ROAD and HAS NO UNDERSEAT DiKKi BKOZ batteries O-Q-py
the dikki, WHiLE THiS Scooty TeenZ Elektrik has maha-dikki==More
konveenient bkoz batteries are placed in specially built compartments
OUTSiDE DiKKi.
The Ride Kwality verri guud. Top speed 40 kmpH==verri guud and verri
much faster than the 25 kmpH top speed of udder E-bikes. But somewhere
I heard that RTO law says that if top speed exceeds 25, then have
to get registration and number plate and maybe pay some lower tax.
I am not sure yet. In any kace TVS will find out what the law says
(at least in Karnataka & TN). If Karnataka & TN allow higher speeds
earliest, den udder states will mostly haff to folo.
