TVS Motor Company has just launched their latest 125 cc bike FLAME having the innovative DELTA-EDGE styling which features delta shaped tank side panels incorporating turn-indicating blinkers, as well as delta-edge exhaust silencer. The instrument panel (dashboard) has a back-lit digital console which has a fitness check indicator and low fuel warning tell-a-tale lights. The dashboard also has a Live Active “Intelligent Mileage Indicator” which displays the mileage your bike is giving at that moment. This system has a sensor which is continuously measuring the amount of petrol being consumed per cycle, based on which it calculates the kilometers per liter mileage the bike is giving under the prevailing road, load, speed and driving conditions in that cycle period. I have driven this bike. This system actually works and is extremely useful to get the best mileage possible. Further styling enhancement is a dual lens tail lamp. Dual tone graphics on the red colored bike that I rode made this bike really look like a flame. The visual effect is quite stunning and this is definitely the most stunning looking bike in the country today.
The 124.8 cc engine having bore X stroke of 54.5 X 53.5 mm produces 10.5 bhp [7.7 kilowatts] of power at 8250 rpm and develops a torque of 10 Newton-meters at 6250 rpm breathing through a VM type carburetor at a compression ratio of TEN is to ONE. This bike is designed as per Law of Nature because just as we humans breathe through TWO nostrils – this bike has TWO inlet valves, and just like we have ONE ass-hole, this bike also has ONE exhaust valve. In keeping with this, the bike has a unique dual induction system and a single spark plug ignition. There are two separate induction ports – power port and swirl port to achieve the best combination of power, performance and mileage. The power port creates tumble motion in the air+fuel mixture to get excellent throttle response and the swirl port makes for extremely lean air+fuel misture which gives the best possible mileage. This system is called CCVTi, which stands for Controlled Combustion Variable Timing intelligent.
The bike with 240 mm front disc brake and 130 mm rear drum brake weighs 126 kg and rides on 90/90 X 17 tires front and 90/90 X 18 tires rear, mounted on alloy wheels. Fuel tank capacity is 7.5 liters, wheelbase is 1320 mm and ground clearance is 165 mm. Power-to-weight ratio is 83.33 bhp per tonne and top speed is almost 100 kmph. The most innovative feature I found on this bike is a small, lockable metallic compartment in the fuel tank, something that no other bike has!
Available in many striking colors, the ex-showroom price is Rs.46,000/-. On road price would be @ Rs.50,000/-.
