its larger engine and clever features, the Scooty Pep Plus
is quite a hit with the ed's son.

Faults brake lock clip sorely missed
A
few months ago, Niki Sorabjee brought attention to the
fact that he was now eligible for a gearless licence.
And our ed has no other option but to let him have the
Scooty Pep Plus, his first pair of motorised wheels, as
a long-termer. While his father gets a little anxious
at times, the lad says he and his diminutive TVS scooterette
are doing just fine. The Scooty’s long dominated
its segment, but that’s not made TVS complacent.
The fresh Pep Plus, with minor but smart touches, is enough
evidence. While the scooter looks its familiar petite
self, racy new graphics now embellish it from nose to
tail lamp. In addition to the lockable under seat area
(now conveniently illuminated), there’s a cute bib-like
storage bay within the front apron. While grips and levers
feel just fine to Niki, he does notice the lack of a brake
lock clamp that would really make sense on a gearless
scooter like the Scooty Pep Plus.
He also grumbled to us about the Pep's fuel efficiency
which, at 49kpl, would be straining his allowance a bit.

Telescopic
front suspension:-
Telescopic front forks a good thing. |
Someday,
Niki will grow into a strapping young man and lift superbikes
with one hand, but right now, even he finds the Scooty pretty
easy to prop onto its main stand, thanks to TVS’s
clever design.
The scooters proving its solid build quality, with no major
trouble cropping up this far into our test term.
It may look small, but the Pep Plus now comes with a larger
87.8cc heart and is truly Plus on Pep. Five bhp at 6500rpm
might not sound like a lot, but the Plus is a light scooter,
and provides Niki his thrills while keeping him limited
to safe speeds. An electric starter keeps him happy and
the same goes for the front suspension with telescopic forks
that are rarely found on scooters.
While it’s still too early to talk fuel economy and
reliability, what’s obvious is that the ed’s
son has fallen for the scoot hook, line and sinker.
