Italian
scooter and moped maker Malaguti is trying to gain toehold in the
motorcycle segment and like its wacky scooters which are trendy
and powerful, it has suggested an avant garde design for its first
ever concept motorcycle. The Malaguti Super Climber pictured here
was shown to the motorcycle world at the Bologna Motor Show in December
and it obviously is a stylised take on an American flat-tracker
motorcycle. Employing a four-stroke mill borrowed from the Yamaha
TT600 and mounted into a chassis of Malaguti's own design (as creative
as the rest of the design), the Super Climber has a fabricated tubular
steel swingarm onto which the twin beefy piggyback type of shock
absorbers are mounted.
The Super Climber might not win any performance wars out there even
with 44bhp Yamaha power but it is nevertheless an interesting concept
which has been made solely to judge whether Malaguti should get
into motorcycles. Said a Malaguti spokesman at Bologna: "There
is talk in the air about increasing our line-up. Malaguti is a strong
brand and we are keen to expand." But with better designed
bikes, one hopes!
