| LML
SELECT |
1st |
| The
two-wheeler with the least problems is a scooter - the top end model
of the Kanpur based-manufacturer, LML, with only 59 problems per 100
vehicles, thanks especially to its excellent engine and transmission.
All other subsystems are also good with some improvement needed in
the body. |

| ESCORTS
- YAMAHA YBX 125 |
2nd |
| There
is sadly a big gap from first to second with the YBX flying not only
Yamaha's flag but also that of motorcycles. The better-made vehicle
from the Yamaha stable is the best motorcycle. Still the number of
problems per 100 vehicles is much more than the topper. Miscellaneous
items need to be of a higher quality. |
|
|
|
| HERO
WINNER |
3rd |
| The
big-wheeled scooterette from Hero Motors comes third overall and tops
its category, with the problems spread evenly in all the segments.
The drop in quality from the best motorcycle to the best scooterette
is not much. It is the only vehicle other than CD 100 SS to get five
star rating in all categories. |
|
|
|
| KINETIC
MARVEL |
4th |
| The
second best scooter is from Kinetic Motors and has 34 more problems
per 100 vehicles than the best placed scooter. Problems are distributed
evenly across all areas but with exceptionally large number of miscellaneous
problems. Marvel's stablemate, the ZX, languishes way back in 19th
place. |

|
| LML
NV |
5th |
| The
NV though scoring higher than big brother and segment topper, the
Select in the area of body and wheels, needs attention in the areas
of dashboard, handle, control knobs, lights and locks. LML does itself
proud by having two of its scooters in the top five of the Promised
Performance Monitor. |

|
|
| HERO
HONDA PASSION |
7th |
| The
newly launched trendy bike from Hero Honda Motors ranks second in
the motorcycle segment and is the best Hero Honda bike. This is surprising
because one would have expected Hero Honda bikes to rank much higher.
The areas where the problems are much above the industry average are
instrumentation and locks. |
