BIKE GURU Answer:YOU CANNOT RiDE ANDHRA NUMBER BiKE IN CHENNAi. BETTER TO SELL YOUR BiKE IN ANDHRA AND BUY ANOTHER BiKE IN CHENNAi. ALTERNATiVELY, CONTACT AUTOMOBiLE ASSOCiATiON OF SOUTH INDIA (0n net). THEY WiLL DO THE NUMBER CHANGE FORMALiTiEs. WiLL COST MONEY.

DEVENDRA TANEJA Question: I am planning for a new bike, looking for power and performance. Budget below 1 lac, some options for consideration are 1. TVS Apache 180 2. Pulsar 200 ns 3. Yamaha FZ-S/Fazer .... Out of these pulsar 200 ns appeals the most because of the all new engine & features but have never owned any pulsar brand till yet. Would like to know what would be the best value for money deal considering the technical & reliability issues? Please reply immediately as I have to take the decision very soon. Regards

BIKE GURU Answer:FOR best value for money deal considering the technical & reliability issues, GO FOR TVS Apache RTR 180 WiTH ABS. IT HAS TUBELESS TYREs AND IS THE SAFEST BiKE BELOW 1 LAC. REGARDiNG PULSAR 200 NS, I HAVE NOT TESTED IT YET, BUT I HAVE TESTED KTM 200 DUKE WHiCH HAS SAME ENGiNE DiMENSiONs AS PULSAR 200 NS. I IMAGiNE PULSAR 200 NS WOULD HAVE MUCH FASTER PiCKUP THAN 180, BUT LiFE WiLL BE MUCH SHORTER (bkoz of three spark plugs). THEREFORE RELiABiLITY AND LiFE OF PULSAR 200 NS IS DOUBTFUL. REGARDiNG THE URLs GiVEN ABOVE BY YOU, I HAVE CHECKED IT. THEORETiCALLY IT LooKs FEASiBLE, BUT PRACTiCALLY, I HAVE DOUBTs. THiS IS A VERY NEW CONCEPT AND I DO NOT HAVE ANY PRACTiCAL KNOWLEDGE ABOUT IT BKOZ I HAVE NOT SEEN IT NOR TRiED IT. SO CANNOT SAY FOR SURE. SORRi.

RAJUBVSN Question: Hi Bike Guru, I have Hero Honda Super Splendor 2006 model.Have been facing problems with mileage(<40) and pick up(feels slower than a 100cc bike). Also, hero service center told me that i have to change complete engine kit to get better performance. Do I need to change this? What all need to change like bore kit.clutch plate etc.Can I re model it with some good engine? Pls give me your advice. Thanks, Raju

BIKE GURU Answer:YOU HAVE NOT TOLD HOW MANY km YOUR BiKE HAS COVERED? ARE YOU A ROUGH RiDER OR CAREFUL STEADY DRiVER? YOUR BiKE IS NOW SiX YEARs OLD AND MUST BE QUiTE WORN OUT. CHECK THE COMPRESSiON WiTH A COMPRESSiON TESTER. IF COMPRESSiON IS DROPPED 10% OR LESS, THEN DON’T DO ANYTHiNG. IF COMPRESSiON DROP IS @ 15%, CHANGE ONLY RiNGs AND DO VALVE GRiNDiNG. IF COMPRESSiON DROPPED MORE THAN 15%, THEN CHANGE LiNER+PiSTON SET AND DO VALVE GRiNDiNG. KLUCH PLATE ALSO CHANGE. YOU CAN re model it with some good engine IF THE MOUNTING POiNTs AND EXTERNAL DiMENSiONs OF THE good engine ARE THE SAME.

U can suggest any other bike too.. i am looking for a bike with good style, performance, comfort and fuel efficiency

VARUN Question: Hello sir.. Thanx for your advice regarding honda dazzler.Yeah i shall stop thinking about it untill it has got a kick feature :-) .I forgot to mention my age earlier., I am 22 years old sir and i need it for transport to office with a pillion rider. My order of priorities shall be 1. Price(85000) 2. Mileage (50 kmpl) 3. Good Engine life 4. Power (150cc engine with no vibrations at 70kmph speeds) 5. Low maintenance costs 6. Looks 7. Brand 8. Features I shall never go after the fraud and faltu concepts of re- sell value sir.Thanx for making my eyes wide open.My sincere thanks for your method of scientific approach. Please exclude impulse or Gs 150 R for recommending. I am eagerly and interestingly waiting for your reply. Please recommend showroom details and your views on maintenance free batterys. I would prefer and like to have A bike of front and rear discs if possible sir.. Thanx alot in advance.

BIKE GURU Answer:IN 150 cc, ONLY DAZZLER HAS BOTH FRONT AND REAR DISC, BUT THERE IS NO KiCKER – SO AVOiD DAZZLER. YAMAHA R15 ALSO HAS REAR DiSC & FRONT DiSC. DO YOU WANT TO CONSiDER YAMAHA R15? BUT I THINK R15 COST IS MORE THAN 0NE LAKH. SO OUT OF YOUR BUDGET. I THiNK BEST AND SAFEST FOR YOU WOULD BE 180 cc BiKE THAT IS TVS RTR 180. IT HAS BOTH FRONT AND REAR DiSC & TUBELESS TYRES. IT IS WiTHiN YOUR BUDGET. I HAVE FULLY TESTED IT. IT GiVEs 57kmpL MiLEAGE. YOU CAN READ MY FULL TEST REPORT OF RTR 160 ON THiS SiTE. Go to www.indiabike.com Home page will open. Scroll to the bottom of this page & you will get a list of Articles and Road Tests by Dilip Bam. Klikk on TVS Apche RTR 180 to read the full TEST REPORT. IF YOU WANT THE SAFEST BiKE, YOU CAN GO FOR TVS Apache RTR 180 ABS which HAS ANTi-LOCK BRAKiNG SYSTEM WHiCH CAN NEVER SKiD AND YOU WiLL LiVE LONGER. ABOUT MAiNTENANCE FREE BATTERY – I AM AGAiNST IT. IT’S LiFE IS SHORT. I RECOMMEND NORMAL, ORDiNARY, DiSTiLLED WATER FiLL-ABLE BATTERY, WHiCH LAST LONGER AND CAN BE RECHARGED MANY TiMEs FOR ONLY Rs.25/-.
