Believe
you me, this is what makes it a super commuter!
There, I have said it and it really speaks volumes about
the work done by the TVS engine team to not only make the
revamped bike sport major gains in Performance but also in Fuel Efficiency.
Not many can achieve such in both diametrically different
departments and normally one gains at the cost of the other
but in the Fiero F2, Performance and Fuel Efficiency reside
happily together just as they do in the Caliber 115. I think
it is symptomatic of the breed of new bikes by Indian OEs
who are really working to push the combined Performance-Fuel
Efficiency envelope which is what is drawing many
buyers to their fold.
The revisions in the torque spread and the new gear ratios
for second and third have seen to it that Fuel
Efficiency has been boosted tremendously. Of course
playing within the confines of the optimum efficiency zone
of the dual map ignition system also contributes greatly
to upping the Fuel Efficiency which has seen the Fiero F2 register massive gains not only
over its predecessor but also over other bikes in its segment.
In our runs (carried out as usual by Aspi Bhathena), the
Fiero registered a best of 68kmpl while in our high speed Performance testing and such
she delivered a praiseworthy 52kmpl to register a 60kmpl
overall fuel consumption figure. Contrast this with a 55kmpl
best and a 49kmpl worst figure for its predecessor and the
gains are all evident. This trait, more than anything else,
should begin to dawn on many the significance of the super
commuter title. |
