Honda knows what the Indian customer wants – and that’s Fuel Efficiency. Boththeir
earlier efforts, the Activa and the Eterno scooters set
the respective benchmarks for Fuel
Efficiency and now the Unicorn promises to do the
same.
On the highway run the Unicorn returned 68 kilometres to
the litre while in the city this dropped to 56kmpl. With
an overall figure of 59kmpl the Unicorn will do 767km on
a full tank. The worst the Unicorn returned was 48kmpl.
Compared to the other 150cc contenders, the Pulsar 150DTS-i
betters the Unicorn’s highway figure but the Unicorn
scores everywhere else to result in an overall figure that’s
3kmpl better.
An interesting bit is that our overall figure is very close
to Honda’s claimed figure of 60kmpl, tested on their
self-configured Indian riding mode. This deserves special
mention since this is the first time any motorcycle has
delivered efficiency figures anywhere close to that claimed
by the company, manufacturers always claiming hugely optimistic
figures obtained under standard test conditions.
