SECOND INNINGS
Things are a-changing, when it comes to Kinetic
Engineering. That’s what we said last month when we
tested the GF170. Need further proof? Say hello to the Kinetic
Boss 115, the Boss with more dum and the bike that brings
the fruits of this new found change to the volume end of
the motorcycle business.
Things have come full circle for Kinetic Engineering. Here’s
a manufacturer that began its motorcycling innings with
the Challenger, went upmarket with the GF125, downgraded
the Challenger to the Boss and then sat around wondering
why buyers weren’t interested in their bikes. And
all through we cried ourselves hoarse criticising build,
quality and refinement while Kinetic thought we were just
being picky and choosy.
Somebody somewhere has finally seen the light and realised
that build, quality and refinement are parameters that buyers
look for in their bikes and not just critical road-test
terms used in magazines. So out went the GF125 and in came
the (vastly superior) GF170. And now the reorganisation
process has come full circle with the upgrading of the 100cc
Boss to the new Boss 115. The motorcycle that aims (in Kinetic’s
own words) “to provide more value to the entry level
segment” and marks Kinetic Engineering out as a serious
contender in the numbers arena of the biking business.
