An
ideal set-up has been left unaltered.
The GF170 uses the unique rectangular perimeter frame that
lends itself as much to style as to function. The chassis
boasts a very high level of torsional rigidity with no flex
creeping into the equation. Chassis feedback levels are
excellent and give you the confidence to throw her into
corners with abandon, lean angles limited only by the side
stand that sticks out like a sore thumb. Eliminate the side
stand from the equation and the GF is capable of stupid
angles of lean, the wider 100/90 MRF Zapper rubber at the
rear providing more than sufficient levels of grip.
The suspension is well set up for an ideal balance between
ride quality and handling. On
the Road she feels slightly on the stiffer side (even
with the rear preload on its softest setting) but the benefits
are felt while riding two-up, the pillion never feeling
like an extra bag of potatoes and also while traversing
rough roads which she takes in her stride. And to top it
the bike doesn’t wallow around bumpy corners.
