Where on the drag strip the Pulsar comfortably outruns the Ambition, at the filling station the tables were turned, the legendary Hero Honda Fuel Efficiency seeing the Ambition make up lost ground. Out on the highway the Ambition traversed 69km to a litre of petrol as opposed to the Pulsar's 60km to the litre. The same story is repeated on the city cycle, the Ambition returning 58kmpl to the Pulsar's 48kmpl.

However the Pulsar does recover some ground on range, her 18-litre fuel tank ensuring that she traversed 972km between tankfuls. The Ambition on the other hand only did 794km between tankfuls, considering an overall mileage of 61kmpl.
