Summing
it up: Wunderbar!
How
did Bajaj Auto do it, is the most obvious question. Even
we were asking this of them! But while we tried to listen
to whatever they had to tell us, you could forgive us for
not listening in on all the details because we were far
too keen on swinging a leg over the saddles and riding away
into the wide blue yonder. The Pulsar is a stunning creation
which does everything its style and turnout suggests. It
is the ideal bike for Indian conditions and while there
will be a segment of bikers who will bring the RD350 into
the picture, the fact remains that in the Pulsar one has
the makings of a complete and highly efficient package,
which any other Indian bike, today or from our recent past,
the RX100 included, will find difficult to match.
I hope you will forgive me if I stop now. Phew... it is
close to seven hours since I was off the saddle of my new
red Pulsar 180 striving to hammer off this report on my
PC even while lending a hand to our layout team over this
12-page stretch. Voila, the Pulsar has wreaked havoc among
ranks of editorial staff at this magazine and seven onto
two will just not do! Pulling rank is the one way out. If
you see the rest of the team queueing up at a Bajaj dealer
to front up the dough for their very own Pulsars, you'll
understand how perfectly sane and sensible guys go cuckoo
when it comes to bikes: it drives them to do things which
only fellow bikers will understand and emulate!
