 Fuel Economy

ACTIVA
NOVA 135
SMALLER CAPACITY HAS ITS ADVANTAGES
Honda's Activa has revived a declining scooter market in India since its Introduction not so long ago. Its sure-footed fuel economy over a hitherto two-stroke dominated market has surely played a vital role here, making it the success it is. Our Activa delivered a consistent 43.06kpl on city roads as compared to the Nova's 40.31kpl in spite of the latter's 30cc-plus excess cubic capacity. Out on the highway, where we hasten to add neither vehicle belongs, the swifter Kinetic offered 43.7kpl while the purring Honda racked up 46.5kpl.
The Kinetic has a diminutive button near the throttle. When depressed, this switches on a 'mileage expert' that chimes signals when the throttle needs to
be tapered off to help keep revs at acceptable levels for good economy.
