Among
the 400,000-odd two-wheelers sold every month in India,
over 155,000 units comprise of what is known as the economy-deluxe
motorcycle. This overwhelmingly large slice of the two-wheeler
pie is dominated by the 100-110cc four-strokers that combine
two basic parameters - economy and style. So, keeping the
importance of this segment in mind, we decided to pit one
bike from each manufacturer, and find out which is top dog
among the lot.
The criteria of choosing the bikes were a four-stroke engine
size of 100-110cc, and a price of between Rs 40,000-Rs 45,000
(Delhi). Style was the third criterion, and by this reckoning,
the bikes we chose were: Kinetic Challenger, Yamaha Crux,
Hero Honda Passion, LML Freedom, and TVS Victor. (Bajaj
decided not to participate in this comparison, though the
Caliber Croma would have been a worthy competitor.) So which
is the best? Read on.
